The painting depicts a scene from the biblical story of "The Poor Man's Lamb" from 2 Samuel, Chapter 12. The story illustrates the parable that the prophet Nathan tells King David to confront him about his sin in the affair of Bathsheba and Uriah the Hittite. The painting focuses on the central figure of Uriah the Hittite, standing among his agitated soldiers due to his refusal to go to his wife at the king's command. In the upper left corner, Bathsheba is seen secretly ascending to David, who awaits her. I chose to paint in black and white to reflect the theme of sin.
